Recently, we retrofitted a ducted system in a Caloundra townhouse.
The homeowner wanted to add a basic system to increase comfort inside the four-bedroom, two-storey property – especially on days when there was little or no sea breeze.
We installed a Daikin FDYAN71 and allocated 5 temperature-controlled zones within the property.
When deciding which system would heat and cool the space most efficiently, we had to keep the following things in mind:
- Flat roof therefore lack of space in the roof cavity
- Stainless steel fittings
- Need for long pipe run
- Body corporate regulations
- Where dropper locations were
- Where we could access the ducts to downstairs, and
- Circuit availability
Ducted Aircon Sunshine Coast: Tips for Homeowners
For those that live in coastal communities, it pays to be aware of rust and take preventative steps to prevent and reduce any rust build-up.
Here are four (4) tips for coastal homeowners:
- We recommend and install “Rust Be Gone” which is a sacrificial anode that mounts to the pipe work. It uses the static in the pipe work to create an electro static rust inhibitor.
- When servicing ducted air con systems, we can apply a coil coat to the coil on the condenser to prevent corrosion.
- Regular upkeep in the way of washing the system down with fresh water, and a wash and wax car wash is recommended.
- Spraying the compressor with lanolin oil can help to keep components rust free.
